Representative Councils

In order to ensure that the voice of vulnerable members of our community have a voice in the decision making of Local 126, we have in our governance structure a process for establishing representative councils. The purpose of these councils is to bring members of these groups together to identify issues that they are facing and to advocate to the leadership of Local 126. The chair of each leadership council is invited to sit as a member of the Local 126 Local Council.

We have one representative council established:

We are also looking at creating representative councils for:

  • Youth

  • Women

  • Veteran

  • Elders

  • Survivors (residential schools, 60s scoop, etc.)

  • Gender and Sexual Minorities (2SLGBTQIA+)

If you are interested in joining one of these representative councils, or if you have an idea for a representative council, please contact us to let us know.
